Washington state law requires a two-year waiting period before units may be used; and Custom Monthly Plans must be paid in full before use. However, it may take several years for your unit purchase price to exceed the unit payout value. See the GET Program Details Booklet for more details.

100 units = 1 year of resident undergraduate tuition and state-mandated fees at Washington’s highest-priced research university, either UW or WSU.

Tuition at a Washington regional university (such as EWU, CWU, WWU or TESC) or community college will likely require fewer units

GET units can also be used for other qualified expenses like room & board, books, supplies, or computers. The monetary value is based on UW or WSU but you can use GET units at any college, university or trade school listed on the FAFSA website.
